Miserable Faith was founded in July 1999 by students of the Beijing Midi School for Modern Music. Their first live performance was held on September 26th of the same year at the Everyday Bar in Beijing. Ever since then, it has been active in different bars and it even shows up to music festivals. In recent years, the band has had a few live shows in some big cities, like Chongqing, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. Its music style is mainly hardcore rap music, but it also spans many other genres like nu metal, heavy metal and more recently, folk rock. Miserable Faith advocates the spirit of independence and individuality. Their music always expresses a positive attitude towards life--love peace, love life.

About Miserable Faith
Yingzhang Zhong (Ophelia) is a sophomore at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She is currently completing her special major in Economics and Math, along with a minor in Music. This website is designed as the final project for the World Politics class taught by Professor Ferraro during the Fall 2013 semester. Why They Seem Special To Me
I would never admit that I am a rock music person. I don't like the chaos that always comes along with rock music. However, I have fallen in love with the band Miserable Faith. Their powerful lyrics in each song, which always implicitly or explicitly reflect their views in politics, society and even the environment, convert the "chaos" into the necessity of the melody. In fact, when I sing their songs with these strong beats, I feel like I am making the bold statement to the vulnerable and corrupted world, "I feel so alive!!"

 

(Under the Page--Music, there are some songs sung by Miserable Faith and also my interpretations of some of their songs. Since Miserable Faith is not a internationally-known band, I couldn't find many of their videos on YouTube. However, there are definitely more incredible songs with amazingly straigtforward lyrics that I recommend you to listen to.)
